Lots of Important Info/ Week 1 of Practice
Parents & Swimmers,
First off, thank you so much to everyone who attended our evaluations this past week! We were so happy to meet everyone and see your children swim! Welcome to the team!
This email is the first of many you will receive from me throughout the season. I always do my best to keep it brief, so know that any long email you receive (such as this one) is only because it contains important information.
Practice Times:
Our first practice will be held Tuesday May 27!
Below is the official practice times for this season:
Monday-Friday AM Practice:
7:30am-9:00am for all swimmers 9 years old and over
7:30am to 8:30am for returning 8 and under swimmers
8:30am-9am for NEW 8 and under swimmers
Tuesday & Wednesday PM Practice:
4:00pm-5:00pm for ALL Ages
Practice Policies/ What to Expect:
For practice, your child will need a swim suit (team suit not required for practice), swim goggles, swim cap (optional for practice, NOT OPTIONAL for swim meets, you will receive a team cap sometime soon), and a towel. When you arrive, please remind your child that the pool is not open for play swimming and they are not to enter the water until a coach instructs them to do so. Swim team is a fun activity and we want everyone to have a good time but safety precautions are in place to keep it a fun and safe activity. We do not have an official lifeguard on stand for swim team practices. Coaches are lifeguard and first aid certified for emergencies, but we would obviously love to avoid emergencies. Thank you for your help in informing your child of these policies! Please reach out with any questions you may have!
Lastly regarding practice, if bad weather is predicted for the area, please keep an eye on your email for practice cancellations! We do our best to make decisions about practice early and in advance if bad weather is predicted, but as you know sometimes weather will pop up out of nowhere.
Our Website/ RSVPing for Swim Meets:
I encourage everyone to open our website and familiarize yourself with it. Search fairyland.swimtopia.com and it should pop up. Important things to note about the website, anytime you receive an email from me it is also posted on the front page of our site. If you click the swim meet tab on the top, you’ll notice that all of our swim meets are open to RSVP whether you will attend or not. You must RSVP YES OR NO (meaning you also need to RSVP even if your child is not attending the meet). The earlier you are able to do this, the more convenient it is for me to do meet entries, so if you already know what your vacation plans are for the summer please feel free to go ahead and RSVP for as many meets as you can! The swim meets tab is also where you will sign up to volunteer for meets. Caroline Bentley will be sending an email today with more information about volunteer positions so keep an eye out for that!
Donut Fridays at practice:
Now onto the fun stuff…throughout the season, age groups will take turns bringing in donuts to share with the team in addition to our “fun friday practice” where swimmers get to play games and celebrate all their hard work that week. Keep an eye on your email each week as that is where I will share what age group is responsible for providing donuts to share for that week. More info to come!
PHEW, i know that was a lot. I appreciate your time in reading this. As always please do not hesitate to reply here or shoot me an email with ANY questions at all! Mine and Caroline’s contact information is below.
